Solid Gold Music Show - Saturday 28th November 2009

This week’s programme starts with our 45rpm, music and news from this very day in 1985, at 12-15pm travel back in time with us to November 1965.

This weeks brief biog is on the multi talented Roy Wood. Just after the 10 o’clock news we value a disc, SJH continues with his nostalgia throughout the programme.

All the usual features including “Yesterday Today”, “Music In The News”, our vintage children’s recording just after 11-00am is followed by “Connections”, three songs that have a common link. We “Pull A Pound” just after 12-00 and then give you the history behind today’s “One Hit Wonder” before we flashback for the final 45 minutes.

This weeks premier oldies programme starts at 9-00am with the charts and the news from this very day in 1979.
Our Brief Biog is on the 1960’s hitmaker Chris Montez.

Just after the news at 11-00am its Kids Corner with a classic kiddies song followed by something to get your grey matter turning over, its this weeks Connections. To conclude it’s our 45rpm from the decades of the 90’s and 2000+.

Amongst all of this we value your records, have some Music In The News, (songs which relate to some of this weeks news stories) and Yesterday Today, keeping you up to date with your musical favourites of the past.

Between 10-15 and 10-30 you will hear a brief biography on the Tamla Motown legend Jimmy Ruffin. Dereck will value a disc just before 10-00, sort out a vintage children’s song or tune in Kids Corner at 11-00, and test your musical knowledge with his connections.

All this plus Musical Anniversaries, Yesterday Today, Birthdays and Stephen Hall reminiscing about radio and tv from years long gone.

Calling All Eagles Fans!!!

Radio Verulam are giving away 3 pairs of tickets to see the Illegal Eagles at the Alban Arena on Sunday 15th November 2009.

The first pair will be given away on tomorrow's Solid Gold Music Show and the other pairs of tickets will be given away on Verulam AM with Phil Richards and West Herts Evening with Danny Smith.

Solid Gold Music Show - Saturday 7th November 2009

Join Dereck and Stephen at 9-00am this coming Saturday for another four hours of solid gold memories.

Yesterday Today keeps you up to date with the stars of yesteryear and what they are up to in 2009 and at 11-00am tune in for one of the vintage children’s songs in Kids Corner, and can you make the connection with the three songs that follow?
